Guitar players- developing a ‘five fret stretch’?
I’ve been playing for a while now, and I guess I could call myself an ‘intermediate’ player- I was working on this blues rhythm riff in C the other day from www.wholenote.com. I can’t give the exact addres, but the lesson is called ‘Stretch Blues’. In it, it calls for playing the 3rd(C) fret on the A string and the 8th fret on the D string(B Flat) simultaneously-my acoustic is a full sized dreadnaught with a 25 1/2″ scale and I don’t exactly have huge hands to work with-any good stretching exercises out there?
You need to just keep playing. I don’t know how often you are going to use a five fret stretch. I’ve been playing for over thirty years and haven’t found the need for such a stretch and trying to accomplish that on an acoustic is going to be very tough. I don’t have huge hands either and have to move up or down the fretboard to get to different notes and can do that faster than trying to stretch to the note. Working your hands a little each day will improve your stretch as well as your technique.
Keep on practicing and perfection will follow!
